That's from this blog post or article or whatever from the Times. I'm crowdsourcing this - can anyone tell what the fuck it means?

You're Going the Wrong Way!

Horrifying story in the Times about new solar power plants in California:

The utility said that it expected the plants, both using photovoltaic technology, which turns electricity directly into sunlight, would be competitive with other renewable sources...

Converting electricity to sunlight is exactly the opposite of what we should be doing. I urge California to halt these projects before they worsen an already grim environmental situation.

The Arc of Politics is Long, but it Bends Toward Adulterers

I don't really care about the whole Edwards mess, although I agree with the sentiment that it was incredibly selfish of him to run for president knowing that this could be used against him at any time. This quotation from the New York Times, however, really astonishes me:

Jonathan Prince, a former aide, said, “It doesn’t end his career as a person who wants to make a difference. Could he ever run for office again? The arc of politics is long. People have gone through much worse and run for office again.”

[emphasis added]
The original, of course, was Martin Luther King, Jr.: "The arc of the moral universe is long, but it bends toward justice." (Sometimes rendered as "The arc of history...") Really, a perfectly appropriate phrase to reach for when contemplating the political future of a one-term senator and confessed adulterer (though please bear in mind that he was at all times "99% honest").

I guess my only question for Mr. Prince would be, why single out Dr. King for this sordid treatment? Why not: "The world will little note, nor long remember that John Edwards met a woman in a bar in New York, hired her to travel with his campaign for months, had sex with her, lied about, and is probably still lying about it."

Or: "The torch has been passed to a new generation of Americans—born in this century, tempered by war, disciplined by a hard and bitter peace, proud of our ancient heritage, screwed by women who are not our wives..."

Or: "Long years ago, we made a tryst with destiny... and Rielle Hunter. Tryst with destiny and Rielle Hunter."

You get the idea. Jonathan Prince, you fuckhead.
