Horrifying story in the Times about new solar power plants in California:
Converting electricity to sunlight is exactly the opposite of what we should be doing. I urge California to halt these projects before they worsen an already grim environmental situation.
The utility said that it expected the plants, both using photovoltaic technology, which turns electricity directly into sunlight, would be competitive with other renewable sources...

If they are serious about these efforts to convert electricity into sunlight, I suggest they also look into salination plants, so we can harness abundant fresh water by turning it into beneficial seawater.
